Stephanie Cheralla Attends the 2023 WCI Conference

The 77th Annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference and 34 Annual Safety & Health Conference, sponsored by the WCI, kicked off August 20, 2023 and ran through the 23rd in Orlando, Florida with a call for attendees to “Get in the Game.” Managing Partner Stephanie Cheralla was proud to do just that while representing Cheralla & Associates, L.L.C. there.

Stephanie hit the ground running with The Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Diversity and Talent Alliance. It offered a platform to discuss the connections between claims handling and organizational concerns/initiatives and faith-based practices. It also proved to be an inspiring and energizing start to the event, due in no small part to the dynamic speakers, the company of fellow attendees, and the music of Designers Way Christian Church from Tampa, Florida. Many thanks to Ambassador Service Group for the invitation! Peeking into the Technology Transformations playbook was up next at the industry keynote address, which provided valuable insights on digital solutions to modernize the workers’ compensation space with investments in tools, data science, and experts that drive business forward and help avoid the costliness of redundancies. Additional highlights of day one included keynote speaker Bill Walton, UCLA standout and NBA Hall-of-Famer, and the halftime performance by Collective Soul, who rocked the evening’s festivities. These incredible performances did not, however, overshadow the educational offerings and networking opportunities on days two and three. The second half of the conference Stephanie had the pleasure of attending sessions on news and trends in multi-state workers’ compensation laws, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Act, Defense Base Act, and Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance. In addition to the wealth of information gained from these sessions, Stephanie found invaluable support and guidance from some truly wise and inspirational women ceiling breakers and industry trail blazers. A final shout out must be given to the Alliance of Women in Workers’ Compensation for a tremendous breakout session to end the conference. Overall, the WCI 2023 Conference was one for the record books, and it provided Stephanie the opportunity to put into practice her continuing commitment to stay abreast of the latest news and litigation trends in workers’ compensation defense.
